A couple of thoughts on this .. The amount of data published is reduced – yes, but depending on how things pan out over the next 12 months plus with changes to all the underlying policies that could change or the way access is granted to 3rd parties could change.
I wouldn’t be urging people to opt for whois privacy, but I’d also be cautious about saying simply that it’s not needed Also getting the provider to put their details into any of the fields is a form of whois privacy and makes them partially liable for the domain’s usage. We wouldn’t do that for free and I suspect a lot of others wouldn’t either.
