Dear AFRINIC members and community,
The AFRINIC Board of Directors wishes to inform you that it is taking immediate
steps to fill the vacancy on the NRO Number Council (NRO NC) / Address Council
(ASO AC) to address this pressing need for AFRINIC representation in this
forum.
All the three seats in the NRO NC / ASO AC from the AFRINIC Service Region are
presently vacant; two are elected by the community with staggered three-year
terms. The third is appointed by the AFRINIC Board. The AFRINIC Board intends
to appoint one community volunteer now. The election for the two other seats
will take place in due course.
The AFRINIC Board hereby calls for volunteers who wish to be considered for
appointment to the ASO AC/NRO NC. The tenure of the new appointee on the NRO NC
/ ASO AC will end on 31st December 2026.
The appointed representative will also serve as AFRINIC’s representative on the
ICP2 Review Process, thereby ensuring continuity and effective participation in
both initiatives.
The responsibilities of the ASO AC/NRO NC include:
• Overseeing the Global Policy Development Process (GPDP).
• Providing recommendations to the ICANN Board concerning the recognition
of new RIRs.
• Defining procedures to appoint Directors to serve in the ASO’s two seats
(Seat 9 and Seat 10) on the ICANN Board of Directors and to serve on other
ICANN bodies.
• Providing advice to the ICANN Board on Internet number resource
allocation policy, in conjunction with the RIRs.
• Developing procedures for conducting business in support of their
responsibilities, in particular for the appointment of an ASO AC Chair and
definition of the Chair’s responsibilities.

invited to submit a brief biography as well as a statement of reasons

Submissions must be received no later than 23:59 UTC on Thursday, 30 October
2025.

Le conseil d'administration d'AFRINIC souhaite vous informer qu'il entreprend
immédiatement des mesures pour pourvoir le poste vacant au sein du NRO Number
Council (NRO NC) / Address Council (ASO AC) afin de répondre à ce besoin
urgent de représentation d'AFRINIC dans ce forum.
Les trois sièges du NRO NC / ASO AC de la région de service AFRINIC sont
actuellement vacants ; deux sont élus par la communauté pour un mandat
échelonné de trois ans. Le troisième est nommé par le conseil d'administration
d'AFRINIC. Le conseil d'administration d'AFRINIC a l'intention de nommer dès
maintenant un volontaire de la communauté. L'élection pour les deux autres
sièges aura lieu en temps voulu.
Le conseil d'administration d'AFRINIC lance donc un appel à candidatures pour
les volontaires qui souhaitent être pris en considération pour une nomination à
l'ASO AC/NRO NC. Le mandat du nouveau membre nommé au NRO NC / ASO AC prendra
fin le 31 décembre 2026.
Le représentant nommé servira également de représentant d'AFRINIC dans le cadre
du processus de révision de l'ICP2, assurant ainsi la continuité et la
participation effective aux deux initiatives.
Les responsabilités de l'ASO AC/NRO NC comprennent :
Superviser le processus mondial d'élaboration des politiques (GPDP).
Fournir des recommandations au conseil d'administration de l'ICANN concernant
la reconnaissance de nouveaux RIR.
Définir les procédures de nomination des directeurs qui occuperont les deux
sièges de l'ASO (sièges 9 et 10) au conseil d'administration de l'ICANN et
siégeront dans d'autres organes de l'ICANN.
Conseiller le Conseil d'administration de l'ICANN sur la politique
d'attribution des ressources de numéros Internet, en collaboration avec les RIR.
Élaborer des procédures pour mener à bien leurs activités dans le cadre de
leurs responsabilités, en particulier pour la nomination d'un président de
l'ASO AC et la définition des responsabilités de ce dernier.
