The second live recording for the book, The Art of the Negro Spiritual, is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2002, at 6:00 p.m. at the Western Presbyterian Church, 2401 Virginia Ave, NW, Washington, DC. Soprano Randye Jones and pianist Francis Conlon will perform art songs settings by H.T. Burleigh, Roland Hayes, Undine Smith Moore, Hall Johnson, Julia Perry, J. Rosamond Johnson, Margaret Bonds, William Grant Still, Edward Boatner, Hale Smith, Betty Jackson King, John Carter, Maria Corley and Thomas Kerr. Tickets are $25.00/ea, with $20.00 for seniors and may be purchased by mail or at the door. Proceeds will benefit both the Africana Research Center of The Gelman Library System at The George Washington University as well as the Art of the Negro Spiritual research project.
