NEWS FROM THE ALLIANCE I received this today from Barbara Wright-Pryor of the National Association of Negro Musicians. I, like many, had also received word that Moses died on Monday, November 4th. I am happy that this was apparently an erroneous report.
Darryl ======== We are all concerned about our beloved friend and musical colleague, Moses George Hogan. I did speak with his mother this evening (November 5, 2002) at 10:00 P.M. CST and she informed me that he had to be hospitalized today, but was holding his own. Below is a statement that Mrs. Hogan issued regarding Moses' condition. It was passed to me, so I am passing it along to you. Very truly yours, Barbara Wright-Pryor, President Chicago Music Association The following is a statement regarding the diagnosed illness of Moses Hogan offered by Gloria T. Hogan, mother of Moses. My son, Moses Hogan, was stricken with a major stroke on October 14, 2002, just weeks after doctors had found something on the brain. A tumor, which had continued to grow, remains and the stroke has now left him paralyzed on the right side of his body. His speech and memory have been severely affected. I'm not sure he recognizes family members. He was moved a week ago from the hospital to a hospice since the doctors stated that the hospital could not do anything more for him. The doctors have given him medication with hopes to shrink the tumor. He appears to be in no pain at this time. Since my husband and I are both senior citizens and living on a small fixed income, this situation continues to exhaust us emotionally, physically, and financially. We ask that you continue to pray for Moses and our family. We will attempt to keep you aware of his condition as time moves on. We request that you not send flowers or emails. Cards are welcomed.
