A new version of I-D, draft-allbery-afs-srv-records-03.txt has been successfuly submitted by Russ Allbery and posted to the IETF repository.
Filename: draft-allbery-afs-srv-records Revision: 03 Title: DNS SRV Resource Records for AFS Creation_date: 2010-01-07 WG ID: Independent Submission Number_of_pages: 11 Abstract: This document specifies how to use DNS (Domain Name Service) SRV RRs (Resource Records) to locate services for the AFS distributed file system and how the priority and weight values of the SRV RR should be interpreted in the server ranking system used by AFS. It deprecates use of the AFSDB RR to locate AFS cell database servers and provides guidance for backward compatibility. Changes: * Document is now marked standards track, with corresponding division of references into normative and informative. * Added informative references to the Arla and OpenAFS documentation and corresponding references in the text. * Added a parenthetical explanation for why not publishing AFSDB RRs unless the server provides both VLDB and PTS service on the standard ports is a SHOULD NOT rather than a MUST NOT. * Reordered paragraphs around the restrictions on caching information to hopefully make the text somewhat clearer. * Fixed some minor grammatical issues. -- Russ Allbery ([email protected]) <http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/> _______________________________________________ AFS3-standardization mailing list [email protected] http://michigan-openafs-lists.central.org/mailman/listinfo/afs3-standardization
