Setidaknya, itulah yang terjadi di perbankan yang beroperasi di Indonesia. PT Bank Mandiri Tbk selama ini dikenal sebagai bank terbesar di Tanah Air dari sisi nilai aset. Total aset bank milik negara itu mencapai Rp375 triliun pada akhir 2009 dan Rp400 triliun pada Juni 2010. Penghasilan yang diterima oleh bos Bank Mandiri adalah yang terbesar untuk kelompok bank BUMN. Gaji seorang direktur utama Mandiri adalah Rp 166 juta netto per bulan. Total remunerasi untuk 11 anggota direksi Bank Mandiri pada 2009 adalah Rp93 miliar. Itu termasuk tunjangan dan bonus/tantiem. Jadi seorang direktur Bank Mandiri, rata-rata dalam setahun bisa memperoleh Rp7 miliar per tahun atau Rp705 juta per bulan. Namun, penghasilan Bank Mandiri masih kalah oleh direksi BCA. BCA yang dikendalikan oleh Grup Djarum adalah bank terbesar ketiga di Indonesia dengan total aset Rp283 triliun pada akhir 2009 dan Rp298,6 triliun pada Juni 2010. Remunerasi yang dinikmati sembilan anggota direksi BCA lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan Bank Mandiri, yakni mencapai Rp106 miliar selama 2009. Remunerasi yang ditetapkan berdasarkan Rapat Umum Pemegang Saham (RUPS) ini sudah termasuk gaji, bonus, tunjangan rutin, tantiem, dan fasilitas. BCA memiliki direksi sebanyak sembilan orang. Artinya uang sebesar itu dibagi sembilan orang dalam setahun, rata-rata setiap direksi memboyong Rp11,8 miliar atau Rp983 juta tiap bulan. Meski BCA lebih tinggi dari Bank Mandiri, tetapi masih ada yang lebih tinggi lagi dibandingkan keduanya. Dia adalah Bank Danamon, bank terbesar keenam di Indonesia dengan total aset Rp96 triliun pada akhir 2009. Berdasarkan laporan keuangan Danamon yang dipublikasi di pasar modal, penghasilan eksekutif Bank Danamon melebihi Bank Mandiri dan BCA. Sembilan orang direksi Danamon mengantongi gaji bersih Rp29 miliar ditambah tunjangan dan fasilitas lainnya, termasuk tantiem sebesar Rp99,26 miliar. Total jenderal Rp128,26 miliar. Dengan asumsi dibagi rata, setiap orang direktur Danamon akan menikmati penghasilan Rp14,25 miliar selama setahun pada 2009 atau Rp1,18 miliar per bulan.
