I was stunned when I grab yesterday's paper. I spotted a familiar face on the front page. A very modest, ordinary looking Chinese lady. I bumped into her for a couple of times at the supermarket. She always has this hand-made hand bag. Made of traditional Chinese fabric and she drives an old Ford ute (nearly told her off the other day for being a lousy driver. Glad I didn't lol). On that front page there was a photo of a group of SUPER CITIZEN who has done so much for the community over the years and this Chinese lady is one of them. When a Chinese name mentioned on that article, my eyes were wandering around the photo, trying to see if there is another chinese lady on it but No, the familiar Chinese lady is the only Chinese-looking face in there. Anyway, I couldn't believe what I just learned about this lady. She is an Entomologist, she is a Doctor, she migrated and settled in New Zealand in 1961. She holds quite an important role within the export and import activities in New Zealand because she translates export & import document from Chinese to English vv. If there is a saying that goes: Don't judge a book by its cover, this chinese lady is a classic example of it. She is a SOMEBODY. She doesn't have to impress people with all those materialistic symbols. She just proves that she is SOMEBODY by doing all those good deeds for the community. Hats off for her. Next time I bump into her again at the supermarket, I'll have my photo taken with her. What an inspiring person she is xxx
