I think idealization is an important part of learning and understanding. But 
exaggerated idealization is just like other poorly implemented simplifications. 
They can seriously interfere with learning and understanding. Your 
idealizations have to have some flexibility or they have to at least be applied 
with some flexibility in order to be able to use them effectively.
