What organizations are the best to get one’s certification through? With regards to obtaining a certification, I have heard words/links like hackerrank and https://linuxacademy.com/ thrown around. I am new to computer science.

It depends on your goal or intent. A certification is useful - you can get a 
paying job at Google even, and using a course to learn is not bad at all. It 
may be slower than mentoring. You can try both ways, one at a time though so 
you can focus.
