A little background: Evolution/Physics of Earth is evolving creatures/ideas, and Survival is the criteria evaluator. Evolution/Physics of Earth is using the random chaotic processes in physics to mutate things to the Good direction (survival=Good). And later in evolution 'hints' (from heavily aligned brain/team) are used to mutate things into the Good direction faster. It's just physics. It's not chaotic at first actually, just unaligned agents; the agents themselves are fully aligned in-side; there's no chaos - Earth is evolving as it should.
So say your goal was to destroy Earth into separate unbonded particles; obliterated. (Note they still interact from afar). You collect tons of data and predict well. You find out how to carry out your evil plan too. And small bouts of this Does occur on Earth. Under physics, the Good direction is survival not self-destruction, so anything that wants to stop its own mission is not as good, if the evil bot kills itself as well. So Survival is intelligence; patterns emerge on Earth, because being able to predict when, where, and what everything is on Earth results in massive Defense World from meteors etc etc for immortality. So Earth becomes a nanobot sphere - a fractal, everywhere will be identical. For approx. max efficiency. Survival is physics, it is patterns that emerge through evolution, which allows you to survive by knowing where everything is, when it'll happen, and what it is, using probabilities. This is why Earth, through physics, "wants" to emerge patterns, because they can "trick physics" and know where everything is in their 'home' in case of danger. So Earth becomes patterns, and this growth grows in size beyond Earth and fewer will stop it as it reaches the 'best form' technology. Seeing that, intelligence is probability prediction yes, but it is something more as well - the Good/ morality/ agenda TO kill humans is 'not' intelligence because although an evil AGI can learn how to successfully carry out its plan to kill others/itself - blowing up your own city sphere and not aligning with other intact 'spheres' eradicates its own self; prediction=survival, aligned context=prediction, being a sharing and listening node is crucial for you to survive and use context in the first place. Prediction is context is survival. You can't get prediction without distributed. The blob-pattern growing on Earth is the context bag, it gives better prediction/survival, you can't get from it a self destroyer as often because the context blob functions as a shared blob to predict/survive homogeniously (more so near the end of evolution), more humans are born than die each day.
