Microsoft has a culture of acting as if no one else should be innovating - Steve Ballmer was rabid about crushing the competition.  Gates was able to keep his hands clean because Ballmer was such a go getter.   Microsoft may be mellowing as far as allowing others to play - evidenced by willingness to not overplay the patent game.  But what is especially troubling is the way open source software seems to want to follow Microsoft as if the Microsoft look and feel is so good.   Personally I "hate" what Microsoft is doing to windows and the office suite.  I use Linux Mint for 98% of my computer time...

The thing about Microsoft is they want to shove stuff down your throat - You are now going to do things the Microsoft way - buttons are no longer going to look like buttons - they will have a flat minimized look - and don't expect to find print directly under a simple "file" menu heading...   It's is so frustrating to have people imagine there is a problem and force a fix on you when there is not problem.  /rant over/

Disclaimer: I worked at Microsoft for 8 years and did well financially because the stock market was booming.   Stan
