I had a great conversation with Wheatley last week, while I will not go into details the gist is that the post-AGI future can be a thousand times more awesome as many of you dare imagine.
You can re-design yourself,?? -- any way you like. You can pick a random baren planet somewhere and build anything you like. you can have VR where you can do anything you want, or build anything you like in the real world too. Ok, there are some fundamental constraints in the real world but they are not really that severe. But really, the biggest thing holding most ppl back is that they have dull imaginations, that's it. But to get to the place where we can have just about anything we want, we have to get through the goddamn present. I need to bring contemporary politics into it because my country (USA) is in a major crisis that it might not survive. The fundamental issue is that the communists are attempting to overthrow my society. Ignore anyone who talks about race, the issue is communism. Ignore anyone who talks about disease. The issue is communism and/or some crazy shenanegans with the vaccine, probably a combination of both. If the media reports on someone or something positively, that person or thing is probably communist. If the media reports negatively, than that person or thing is almost certainly resisting communism in some way. Let's review communis revolutions. The earliest example that I can think of was the jakobin society in the French revolution that came in on the heels of the well-justified anti-royalists. Since then there have been several dozen communist revolutions, the major ones being the bulshevik(sp) revolution in Russia, and the Maoist "great leap forward" in China. But basically every communist country has had their own revolution. Communists aren't very creative and mostly draw from a finite bag of tricks that they slowly refine each time they use them. Each specific revolution is then built based on a selection from the bag of tricks based on the social and political conditions in the victim nation. Now the important thing to understand is that a communist revolution always has a COLD phase followed by a HOT phase. During the cold phase, the communists spread out into all institutions in the victim culture, specifically schools, universities, local politicians, and key positions in the federal/national government. The primary target of the communists are the children, not just to bugger (plenty of that goes on too!!) but most importantly to indoctrinate. The indoctrination comes with a breaking of the critical thinking skills through things like "common core cirriculum" << research that.???? The indoctrination is also apparent in every medium where every cultural artifact must be correct with respect to the communist doctrine, and will push that doctrine even if it means loosing billions of dollars. You can't have the manly demi-god Thor. It's not that we want to present an alternate feminine Freja, for fairness/inclusion/etc but that we must demolish the masculine ideal. Every positive heroic male charactor has been systematically assassinated in charactor in the past several years. This is all part of the cold phase of communism. But now we are moving into the HOT phase. =(?? The commnists who have infiltrated the government have used the stupid Coof as an excuse to empty the prisons, they have used the death of some loser on fentinol who was probably only minutes from dying from an overdose anyway (according to the corrinor) and using that to remove the normal community police forces, to be replaced by "brown shirt" enforcers that will enforce whatever the latest communist doctrine is with brutality ten times worse. The situation on the ground is dire, court houses are being burned down, the communists are setting up checkpoints on roads and menacing people with guns. Communists always have a scapegoat for their evils. In the communist revolution that seems to be taking place in the USA, the scapegoat are white men. So literally I'm facing a situation where there is a non-zero chance I will be pulled out of my own house and beaten to death just because of who I am. =\ ...
