Sure, Google, NYT, Facebook, etc are wonderful examples of woke capitalism. Like we can trust them to control our access to information because they block Trump. The perfect parable of our times was "debunking" and banning the idea that Covid escaped from the Wuhan lab, and even accusing anyone who said so of racism. So "Technology run amok," is a racist statement. Perfect.
But I think the Sundar story includes something else. Google's founders and early hires were idealists with some really smart ideas. But as Google's power grew it attracted cynical manipulators, as power always does. So when I see a story about how the CEO isn't up to the job, I gotta think that one or more of those manipulators persuaded the NYT to run the story. Who knows, maybe even some manipulators at the NYT want Sundar gone. Maybe the NYT can get a better busness relation with Google from a new CEO.
