After reading some more on Elon Musk it seems to me: He did make tesla cars, working rockets, working tunnels, and helped fund OpenAI. These things may or may not be better than existing ones. And he seems to aim for baby steps and hype and takes the path he can, which may be a simpler version of the original thing he pitched. So Tesla Bots may become real, but how real and useful we don't know. It could become baby tesla bot toys being sold in the end...
Keep in mind he's using and calling in talent and cash...so he should be able to leapfrog some amount.
