I'm about 1/2 through the paper. It's fun to read, interesting, sounds like you. By fun, I mean eg., "easy to pick from a choice of one option" (paraphrased).
I think the ABC-Correlates issue is pervasive in all AI/AGI period. Pick up virtually any book related to AGI, in any way, including the one I wrote, and there quickly emerges the structure or method to get to AGI, but what is really lacking can be traced (perhaps circuitously, but still traced) back to *lack* of machine consciousness. Why does the machine tend to fail and have no common sense? Because it has no idea what it is doing, no idea what an idea is, no self, no integration into a single "thought"... nothing that normally is associated with..... --> consciousness. I'm reading a short book by B Smith titled "The Promise of AI, Reckoning and Judgment." It's interesting, but he contrasts reckoning (eg, basically like GPT-3), with judgment (no machine yet has it really), which he seems to line up with Heidegger's "being in the world" and being aware of objects "out there" (Dasein) ... but really the problem is the machine is not conscious.
