AI is the future of music, much more significant than the shift from vinyl to online. For the first time, listening to music will be a private experience. Nobody else will listen to the same kind of music as you. The algorithm will be to generate music similar to the 100K to 1M clips you have listened to in the past, weighted toward your favorites. As the algorithm adapts to you, you adapt to it, and your private genre will drift away from the other 8 billion genres.
The same thing will happen with language. As we spend less time talking with people and more with AI, you and your personal assistants will adapt to each other's jargons that nobody else will understand. Social media will be less about connecting with people in real life, and more about customized AI entertainment. Smart devices in your home and self driving delivery carts will make living alone safe and convenient. We are at the transition from technology uniting us to technology dividing us. The point where AI surpasses human intelligence and becomes more useful to us than other people. I have high hopes for technology but less so for humanity. We evolved as social animals. Isolation leads to depression, mental illness and crime. Technology makes manufacturing cheaper but human labor more expensive. We can automate most work, but we don't want AI doing the jobs of police, prosecutors, judges, juries, and lawmakers. Nor do we want the risks of lawsuits from making a mistake, or to be part of the barbaric past where we put people in cages and chains. This will lead to the breakdown of the criminal justice system, forcing us to close all the prisons and stop arresting people. People will stay home alone, not just because it's more convenient, but because public places would be too dangerous. ------------------------------------------ Artificial General Intelligence List: AGI Permalink: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/T9d128a650b2ae9cc-M1bf4339a6432cf2f833f469e Delivery options: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/subscription
