The human population was (much) less than 1 billion for the majority of human
history. Now there are 8 billion of us. Humans and our domestic animals make up
the vast majority of mammalian biomass. And you're crying disaster just because
the birth rate has finally started to decline for once? C'mon, Matt. We
couldn't keep growing forever. Even if we manage to become a multiplanetary
species, arguably that'll just take the pressure off earth's systems, not free
us to make our population even bigger. So it's good that there are some forces
to balance out our natural drive to reproduce.

As an AI enthusiast myself, I still appreciate other people, enjoy their
company, and maintain my friendships. But friendship is all I've ever wanted
... I don't want romance or sex or motherhood ... and that has nothing to do
with AI. That's just me.
