You didn't answer my question, but I don't think you can. We intuitively
understand concepts like sentience, self awareness, consciousness, qualia,
and free will as desirable properties of our minds that by definition have
no effect on behavior. For example, a philosophical zombie is defined in a
thought experiment to behave exactly like a human excepting to lack these
properties. The experiment proves they are illusions.

So there is no need to replicate them in AGI. We already have LLMs that can
pass the Turing test by doing nothing more than text prediction. They
recognize and can act out human emotions just like a human actor. An LLM
told or programmed to display human emotions will try to avoid dying
because that's what humans do. We evolved to fear death because we don't
want to lose these desirable properties of the mind that we were
conditioned by internal positive reinforcement to believe in.

So it looks to me like you are trying to solve a solved problem and
advocating giving human rights to any AI that can pass the Turing test. Or
am I missing something?
