Menlo Park VCs are connected to banks like the failed Silicon Valley
Bank where the capital is setup to flow freely on insider agreements
with the Federal Reserve. If you highlight your project with ESG, DEI,
etc. you will get favored status and the money flow is relatively
unlimited. Until more banks fail which is coming soon as there is a
massive move towards bank centralization. Also, we are moving towards
a war economy as the last vestiges of value in the currency are
getting expended in defense of itself which makes one wonder if
intelligent war machines have some value in having a consciousness.
Yes, you make some valid points. As you see I am having trouble keeping
track of all of the moving pieces of the omnicrisis. The singularity is
clearly #1 on the importance scale where the banking crisis is probably
next up on the timeline followed by widespread food shortages over the
summer and the Vaccine Epiphany that will probably be in motion late
summer followed by Terrible Retribution through the following
months/years/decades as the Guilty are hunted down and removed from this
mortal coil. The collapse of the US government is penciled in for
roughly September.
The problems with the banks are why I haven't been actively job seeking
the last few years. =\
I guess I'm just getting antsy... There are a lot of questions about
how AGI and proto-versions thereof will be deployed to the public. The
course we seem to be on is that the politico-economic elites will
drip-feed us with the mana from the AI with an eyedropper. =\ At least
that's what Sam Altman seems to want to do.
I would tend to argue that a properly conscious AI system could
potentially be substantially less dangerous than a powerful system that
has substantial gaps in its perceptual capabilities.
I've gotten so hype about even the proto AGI systems that I want to blow
$20k on my personal workstation here... (existing mobo is failing, sound
chip burned out so now using a GD SoundBlaster..), last time I updated
bios was in 2020, still 24 core threadripper with 96GB ddr4.. want = 32
core Threadripper WS, 0.5TB DDR5.
It's difficult to decide whether this is actually a good investment:
It could let me run more advanced systems locally earlier, but who says
I don't need a $250k machine or more, then early prototype computronium
could be available as early as 2027... Still it probably is time to
refresh my desktop here question is with what...
