In a survey of 9 to 17 year olds, 2/3 use chatbots. Of those, 35% say it is
like talking to a friend and 12% do so because they have no one else
to talk to. https://futurism.com/lonely-children-ai-chatbots

The 22 year old CEO of an AI startup, friend.com, placed thousands of ads
in NYC subways with white space for people to write comments like "AI
doesn't care if you live or die".

We are witnessing the transformation of social media from human generated
to human moderated to AI moderated to AI generated. The only thing worse
than AI not caring if you live or die is humans not caring either.

Technology makes everything better. Surely there is a technological
solution to this. The AI doomers like MIRI and LessWrong seemed focused on
an entirely different problem, on AI NOT giving us everything we want.
Wanting to go extinct is an existential threat too. Any ideas?
