New release of critterdrug for Linux. Particle fountains were added that are almost as much fun to watch as the psychic discourse between high-neuron-count infovores. Also race and the hill-climbing world are back
http://arbornet.org/~flamoot/telepathic-critterdrug.html I really like having these particles in there -- there is no sound in their world, so having these fountain up or skitter away from important events is a good way for them to find out what's going on nearby. It's also a new class of object to deal with -- the pebbles are temporary obstacles for the small, flat animals I've got thus far, and I'm hoping their proliferation will encourage limbed movement. The hill world certainly might Every new feature or mechanic that affects the animals makes intelligence either more or less likely to appear. I'm hoping the particle sprays, which convey information via colour and direction, will encourage it. Much of the survival game is solveable by rote means that are evolveable. Looking towards the source of a spray could appear as a reflex. But the same ability could arise as an effect of rudimentary curiousity and learning, which would then pay off in other ways. Well.
