I don't usually post other people's ideas but since I have already called for a distributed predictive architecture which would be using and actively acquiring suboptimal resources such as low-bandwidth, unreliable, Turing-incomplete elements etc, I thought I should point out http://www.technologyreview.com/blog/arxiv/27559/?p1=blogs . I'd also like to include my usual disclaimer, I don't think that any single algorithm, technique or technology is the silver bullet for intelligent machines, but I strongly believe "infraprogramming", ie using inferior resources in inferior ways, will be part of the solution at least until we find ourselves overflowing with superior resources.
