Yes, I’m v. confused about it all too. Computing for me means you have a 
distinct plan in a distinct location[s] of a body (as per computer program) 
which controls the actions of the body – and/or possibly a separate 
blueprint[s] which controls the development of the body.

I’d love to know whether anyone has offered the beginnings of a plausible 
suggestion as to how this might be arranged in inanimate matter. I know that 
the great majority of people when they talk about “evolutionary algorithms” and 
the like, and indeed “matter computing”,  haven’t the slightest clue what 
they’re talking about. It’s just a concept that sounds good, as “God’s plan” 
once did.

It seems like the goal posts keep getting moved around as far as what does and 
doesn't constitute computing, now seemingly becoming so broad that just about 
any interaction is "computing" complete with a $99 book on sale.  It looks 
interesting anyway...
