Isn't Clark talking about the extensions of mind into the environment
(incorporating external tools and objects):
"The "extended mind" refers to an emerging concept that addresses the
question as to the division point between the mind and the environment by
promoting the view of active externalism. This view proposes that some
objects in the external environment are utilized by the mind in such a way
that the objects can be seen as extensions of the mind itself." Wiki
- as distinct from "the *distributed* mind" which, IMO, means something like
that there is only one body-mind (a body-wide-distributed mind) as opposed
to a brain-centric mind that is in only one part of the body?

the cog sci domain ... his views and arguments are very well known in
the AI community...
