Einstein was right. In the many-worlds interpretation, both the
observer and the thing observed are described by the Schrodinger wave
equation. A solution to the equation determines what particles the
observer sees. It's not random. It just looks random to the observer
because he doesn't know the quantum state of the system that includes
him.
