I like what Kristin said about self-inspectable code: "I agree with prior researchers who say that we need to build AIs that can manage their own growth, but in order to do that we *must* bring in a new set of tools. These tools include programming languages that give some hope of being self-inspectable: their operational semantics must be simple enough for automatic inspection and characterization, yet powerful enough to implement sophisticated cognitive functions at the architectural level. "
Of course because Human speakable programming language fits those needs so well. It's not only "self-inspectable" it's also "human-inspectable" so it makes it extra-safe for people, and minimizes translation requirements. Obviously human language is fractal and works at a variety of levels also.
