I know some people just use a bunch of desktops for heating, if it gets cold they turn on a few more, and it heats up, you could turn them into a beowolf cluster.
Also with desktops it's nice cause you have more control, as with a single super-computer it's a set amount of wattage, so it may be too hot in spring and autumn. Wheras with desktops you can simply turn one off it's too hot, turn one on if it's getting a bit colder, and so on. Desktops are pretty cheap, can usually get pretty good ones for $50 or less on kijiji.
