I would be surprised if a small group succeeded in beating Google and
Facebook to AGI. They are pouring billions of dollars into AI research
and making progress. But it is really a global effort. Every time you
tag a photo, you are helping to build a training data set of a
trillion name-face pairs. Every time you post a comment somewhere, you
are helping to build a public model of your mind.

I think our main point of disagreement is what we consider to be AGI.
To me it is a solution to the problem of having to work for an income.
It requires machines to be able to do everything that humans can do,
but doesn't require them to pretend to be human.
