There is a difference between practical results and Truth or Reality.
Much of science is based on the careful study of practical results.
But not all of it. We can infer that better AGI applications are
feasible even though they have not been realized. We infer that
practical results will be real within the next 10 or 20 years. The
constant increase in computational power is one form of evidence and
the theory that some level of computational power implies sufficient
power to produce AGI seems reasonable. However, the idea that all
reality can be derived directly or solely from repeatable experiments
does not correspond with my sense of what is really going on.

One thing though. I made a mistake today that was based on my own
habitual behavior or the habits I have formed to deal with my
situation. I submitted something that I had to take back. Then I
thought I made another mistake again based on my regular routine when
in fact my situation is different this week and I hadn't made the
error. What is interesting is that my own habitual behavior has
practical consequences that I can usually rely on - so I can do
certain tasks without putting much thought into them. So our own
subjective experiences can influence and change the practical results
of repeatable experiments. That is one reason why stuff like double
blind experiments are so important.
