The future is parallel, much like the human brain, right now many GFLOPS are available for cheap, but many of them are not accessible to our everyday programming languages. So I'm wondering is OpenCl the best that is available, and if so, does it make sense to build an AGI VM ontop of it? Otherwise what portable parallel libraries are your aware of? Another one I know of is SystemC, which has threaded support, and can compile to FPGA. However most of the GFLOPS are in GPU's right now.
