Buddhism is just one path towards the most radical form of
Transhumanism. The most radical way of transcending your Night Elf
"condition" is to realize that you never actually were any particular
Night Elf and that you just assumed control over one for the purpose of
entertainment.
This is not specific to Buddhism. Anybody can wake up just like anybody
can stop playing World of Warcraft. Buddhism is just a set of tools
which allow you to overcome your addiction to the computer game of
physical reality.
Imagine you play World of Warcraft and another Night Elf walks by and a
chat bubble appears and the other Night Elf asks "How to stop playing
this game?". What do you tell the other person? "Well, just stop
playing!!!" ... "How?" ... "Well, try standing still ... don't pay
attention to the game world ... don't think about anything game related
..." ... and voila, you get Buddhism.
Transhumanism (as discussed on lists like this) will ultimately result
in the same realization as there is no other real "escape". You can
build 100 AGI systems in WoW ... you can switch to a more powerful
avatar to identify with ... you can explore a million distant plants,
etc. ... at the end of the day you'll just close the "game" and move on.
