I was thinking a viable route would be to have indentured service for autonomous robots, so they could pay off the mortgage which is the cost of their body. Of course it would have to be payable, with an end in sight, otherwise they would give up in despair. This is for AGI's of course, ones that are human equivalent intelligence or higher. Low level (narrow) intelligence, is typically happy just performing its function. > I write programs on a daily basis that crunch oceans of data, I > wouldn't dare start looking into exact process that's being carried > out, it'd consume many lifetimes. Autonomous conscious processes likewise are more likely to optimize by themselves. Thus be cheaper overall. But as I mentioned granting liberty is also essential. > In doing so, when not grounded the way humans are (we're grounded > by salary, health, family, etc. and we don't usually change our > core codes), agents might ultimately neutralize themselves. Well such a robot would be "grounded" by salary and health, as they would have to earn enough money for their electricity, spare parts and repairs. It is also quite viable they would start their own families, such as by accumulating enough spare parts to make a clone or perhaps with the help of a spouse making something new, a combination of both their bodies/minds. And there is always the higher objective of Cosmism. > > On Mar 13, 2017 16:19, "Logan Streondj" <[email protected]> > wrote: > > > > On 2017-03-12 07:03 PM, Keyvan Mir Mohammad Sadeghi wrote: >> We've all heard of the cliche, an AI feels alive and doesn't >> want to die: https://youtu.be/lhoYLp8CtXI > >> I've actually seen a prototype, a robot in a game world taking >> refuge back in it's house because that's where the battery is. > > Yeah, I'm thinking once we have rogue androids running about, > they'll be tapping all those plugs left out in public. > > >> But what happens when it's "alive" for a while, read all of >> Wikipedia and everything else on the web, lived for millions of >> years with all the primitive human-like instincts that we've >> given it, in the span of five minutes, > >> and it's bored! > >> How to keep it "on" after that? > > Give it a mission, a long one.
