Now yes an AI can handle multiple streams, but you are going to
pay for it somehow, either with multiple independent memory systems for
each stream which must later be integrated, or by a hugely increased
processing cost for analyzing and consolidating a single memory system.

My advice is to learn to crawl before you try running.

Indeed, the Novamente design supports multiple interaction channels via
having a "local attentional focus" lobe for each one, and then a "global
attentional focus" that integrates information from all of them. In theory,
if there were enough interaction channels, you'd want a deeper hierarchy of
attentional focii, I suppose.

And indeed, we will be experimenting with a single unified attentional focus
first, before making this generalization.

However, we might make this generalization fairly early on, if we want to
have Novamente simultaneously control a number of cooperating agents in a
simulated world. How much complexity the "multiple attentional focii"
approach adds, remains to be determined via experiment. Implementationwise
it's not a big deal, but dynamically it might turn out to be quite subtle.
