I completely forgot about the real factor in this project. My
apologies.

Plugins can be written in c/c++ (and so to anything that has c bindings)
but, yes, the glue is in steve. it should be possible to plugin a real
camera as input, but i suppose there wouldn't be much benefit to that if
you are not going to use the simulation framework.  Again, sorry for the
noise.
