I believe what he is referring to is a vector indicating a linear
approximation to the motion through space of a particular object (e.g. a
hand) during a particular interval of time.

Well, there seem to be no good solutions for these problems on the market
right now at an affordable price range.  What other companies or academic
groups have in the works but have not yet released, I really don't know;
we'd need feedback from some robotics expert...
