Hi,

Yeah, I've met Nick Cassimatis a couple times and am pretty familiar to his work.  The similarity to Novamente is not very deep, as he's not so much focused on either self-organization or creative learning --- he's basically focused on declarative inference using logical methods based on a carefully-crafted ontology of elementary concepts.  At the recent AAAI symposium on human-level intelligence, Nick's stuff was perceived as firmly in the  mainstream of logic-based AI systems, whereas Novamente with its emphasis on evolutionary learning and complex-systems-style self-organization was viewed as rather freaky and out-there.  I guess the similarity between Novamente and Nick's stuff is about as deep as the similarity between attractor neural nets and feedforward neural nets ... or maybe even less so...

I'll say more when I get back from vacation in a week ;-)

Have any of you heard of Polyscheme before?

There's an overview here:

It sounds a lot like Novamente.
