James:
This would risk factionalising the list and de-focusing it from GENERAL AI.

I'm of the view that different parts of an intelligent agent could be programmed differently, because of domain-specific knowledge.  So my goal is more towards building an autonomous intelligent agent rather than a one-size-fit-all learning algorithm.  Though I understand that some people here are interested in the latter.

Maybe we can create one forum specifically for "general AI".

Eugene:
Not enough critical mass by a couple orders of magnitude.
AI is fringe by today's standards, and you need a large initial
content feed to get the positive feedback loop started.

I've been talking on my list for a year, mostly about vision.  We have ~1-2 posts per day, mostly by me though.  Anyway they're complaining about the lack of multi-forums.  My group is actually starting an autonomous agent project, so we need the forums to exchange ideas, perhaps also wiki-type pages.

AI of course is not fringe.  Even "AGI" is getting mainstream lately!

Ben:
If you want to take the initiative to create an AGI Forum, that might
be interesting.

Personally I find it easier to participate in email lists than Forums,
but I know some people feel the opposite.

I prefer emails too, perhaps the forums can be made subscribable?
