This sort of stuff is going to happen anyway, whether you like it or not.
If Ben was able to demonstrate even a moderate level of success with his AGI
design I'm sure many other companies and bigger organisations would suddenly
start taking a lot of interest, if only for the reason that AI related
projects have made very little real progress in the past (despite the many
proclamations to the contrary).  Successful inventions are always copied and
improved upon.  It's the nature of technological development.
