My colleagues at Biomind LLC and I have released an open-source
AI-for-bioinformatics toolkit, in Java, at

http://code.google.com/p/openbiomind/

In fact it contains some uniquely powerful machine learning methods
that could be used in domains besides bioinformatics, but it's currently
been applied mainly in the bioinformatics domain and the documentation
focuses there.

It is not really AGI-oriented, it's a narrow-AI toolkit for data-analysis via
advanced pattern-recognition. Although, many of the ideas and techniques
there are also relevant in an AGI context (and are implemented in a totally
different form within the Novamente framework).
