This is **really** cool work, however neither in all the press about it, nor in Dharmendra Modha's prior writings, do I see any ideas that lead me to believe this project in itself is going to be a huge breakthrough.... But it does seem like a worthwhile step along the path to eventual computational brain emulation.
I also note that given IBM's overhead, $4.7M doesn't actually go as far as you might think... Modha gave a great talk on this stuff at the Singularity Summit, btw... -- Ben G On Sat, Nov 22, 2008 at 2:36 PM, Daniel Allen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > The details: > > http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=&q=Dharmendra+Modha&btnG=Search+News > > > ------------------------------------------- > agi > Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/303/=now > RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/303/ > Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?& > Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com > -- Ben Goertzel, PhD CEO, Novamente LLC and Biomind LLC Director of Research, SIAI [EMAIL PROTECTED] "The empires of the future are the empires of the mind." -- Sir Winston Churchill ------------------------------------------- agi Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/303/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/303/ Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=8660244&id_secret=120640061-aded06 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
