during the last days it became clear that the trac package that is in Ubuntu is virtually unmaintained. - There hasn't been an update to trac in a long time. Their package is 0.11.1 (which is _old_) while 0.11.5 is current and 0.11.6 will be released soon. - There are no security bugfixes in Ubuntu so the trac version there has known remote exploitations (even though those bugs are fixed in the trac debian package) - Ubuntu ships with python 2.6 which is incompatible with that version of trac (and some of the bugs there also affect agilo) Because trac is a package in Universe, it is completely community maintained and even the Ubuntu Security Team doesn't feel responsible for this. So the current status is that there is virtually no hope that the Trac package will be updated in Ubuntu for quite some time to come. This is a problem for us and everybody using Trac on Ubuntu and we have no idea how to work around this except suggesting that you don't use the distro provided trac. So we would love our comunity of ubuntu users to step in and help us there. There are two ways in which this can progress: a) You can get in contact with the current maintainer and convince him that he needs to make an update available or b) you could provide an updated package yourself and convince him to use that. I think that b) is probably more likely to work, but it's also more work. :) What do you guys think, does anybody feel he's up to that tasks?
