We went through a sprint planning meeting and got all stories estimated (so in essence didn't need to have Agilo estimate for us). But, two of those stories were both linked to four tasks. So, in the backlog view, each showed 12 hours of time remaining (for a total of 24 hours). However, the backlog/burndown remaining time only accounts for 12 hours for both because the actual four tasks themselves only have 12 hours worth of time. So, in order for the burndown to draw correctly, I had to link them (even though this currently breaks the whiteboard) and double the task time. This made the burndown totals correct, but now both user stories show a remaining time of 24 hours, not 12.
So actually you want to have the same set of tasks for both stories because you have to do the activities twice (one for every story)?
In this case linking to two different stories is not the right thing, you need to duplicate them. The backlog table sum is actually very naive so it may show the wrong number if you link a task to multiple stories.
What's the solution here? Simply create two sets of tasks?
yep
If tasks aren't meant to be linked for the whiteboard (I think I could see how this would cause a problem with display) - then why is it an option? Thanks for the help!
