Well... its not strictly possible, but there might be a workaround that could help you. You can manually enable the setting -- snip -- [agilo-general] backlog_filter_attribute = sprint -- snap -- Which will show a filter popup in the backlog that you can use to filter out everyting that has a sprint assigned. Then a non-strict product backlog might do what you want. Please tell if that helps you!
