Just checked in a fresh install of the VMWare image, there everything works as expected.
I've made a new sprint in the Roadmap view, and I don't see the error. I've made the mistake of swapping month and day, so the Sprint wasn't due to start in 9 months (02/09 vs. 09/02) and this also raised the "Sprint has ended" error. Can you double-check the dates?
