The whiteboard is designed to get a simplified overview of open bugs, stories and the status of their tickets. The number of columns is currently not configurable. If you want verification per story, you could add a task 'Verify' to every story you pull into a sprint or use the story status (e.g. only close a story when it is verified). Would that help you?
