Well, I tried to start Agilo 0.9.2 on Python 2.6 without it and was immediately told me that simplejson was required. Of course, all was well if I installed simplejson in Python 2.6, but my understanding was that simplejson exists only to support the JSON module in versions of Python earlier than 2.6.
So, which is it?
