Yes, we use that feature and it does help. The problem is really evident during sprint planning where we try to assign stories to sprints from the backlog. Finding the new sprint in the backlog view is difficult as it is not ordered and the list is very long. If the list was like the list that is presented in the left sidebar for the sprint view drop down, that would be ideal.
