Interesting.  I find the opposite.  Specifically, despite Agora's
reputation for formality and quibbling, I find that our judicial
history is filled with cases of common sense applied where the rules
were silent or filled with unstated assumptions.  In fact, Rule 217 
specifically exhorts us to use it.
