Alternative is hard-coding the current precedent:

Amend 1502 by appending the following text to the paragraph beginning with
"* CHOKEY":

        The judge, in specifying a duration for the Chokey, MAY also 
        specify a task (community service) for the ninny to perform; this 
        is appropriate if the task is equitable with the severity of the
        rules breach.  The ninny MAY announce the completion of the
        task, which a priori is assumed to end the sentence, unless a
        further criminal case finds the ninny UNAWARE, EXCUSED, or 
        GUILTY of the crime of falsely announcing the task's completion.
