I temporarily deputize for the Arbitor to designate this as CFJ 4158 and assign
it to Galle.

Original CFJ and Caller's Arguments:

I enter a judgement of FALSE on CFJ 4158. Judge's Arguments:
===
This case turns on the following attempted conditional action by snail:

> If this week's weather is 95 or lower, 16 times, I plant Radishes by paying a
> fee of 162 pyrite.

As the caller argues, "this week's weather" is ambiguous - it could refer
either to the value of the Weather switch at the time snail attempted the
action, or it could refer to the Weather selected for that week by the Land
Managor, which had not yet been selected and was therefore indeterminate.

Two points move this judge in favor of the latter interpretation. First, "this
week's weather" clearly presupposes that there is a conspicuous, unique weather
value associated with each week. The only reasonable candidates for such are
the weather selected that week and the weather at the end of the week (when the
weather causes game effects), and these are under normal circumstances the same
value.

Second, strategic analysis suggests that snail intended to make eir action
dependent on the week's selected weather. Radishes have 95 Resilience - if
snail planted Radishes and then a higher Weather was selected, e would lose
those Radishes at the end of the week. The current Weather value has no such
strategic implications.

For these reasons, this judge believes that "this week's weather" refers to the
weather selected that week. However, even if it did not, that merely makes the
referent ambiguous. In either case, the conditional action failed, either
because the antecedent was indeterminate or because it was ambiguous.

I currently qualify for a blue ribbon, cyan ribbon, white ribbon, an
ultraviolet ribbon, and platinum ribbon. Having already been awarded a platinum
ribbon, I hereby award myself a transparent ribbon, a white ribbon, and an
ultraviolet ribbon.
